Nine year-old SRF’s Silver Sundown, is an awesome
horse! He is one of our favorite horses to ride on the
trail, but he is also spectacular in the show ring
regardless of his rider.
He
won RMH, UMH, and KMSHA Western Grand Championships in 2011
. While he is a very accomplished
show ring competitor, he continues to excel in many
disciplines.
For the second year Silver won the over-all
High Point in his division the Three Phase Event which
combines dressage, stadium obstacle and cross country. He
also received the AGMH High Point Horse Award at this event
and the KMSHA Dressage award. Silver did a beautiful job at
the ACTHA rides this year – his trainer, Charlie DeAtley
received a perfect score at the CTC in Stanton.
At the RMHA International in August, Silver
captured the coveted Rea Swan Versatility Award by winning
his Conformation, Western, and Under Saddle classes. He
went on to the United Mountain Horse World Grand
Championships where he won Regional Trail with his owner,
Steve Heuslein, as well as the Western World Grand
Championship by a unanimous first place decision. It was
his second time to win this championship.
By year end, Silver rose to the top of the
competition and was awarded the Open Western, Trail Obstacle
and Adult Versatility High Point Awards for UMH. Silver’s
accomplishments during his career have been tracked through
the AGMH Merit Program. In 2010 Silver attained the highest
level – Platinum - for Under Saddle and Versatility
competition. With this accomplishment, SRF’s Silver Sundown
was inducted into the American Gaited Mountain Horse Hall of
Fame. Very few horses have risen to this level. What an
accomplishment!
You won’t find a more versatile horse than
SRF’s Silver Sundown. Through the years Silver has had a
multitude of fabulous experiences. He’s won in the show
ring, he’s been on may trail rides, and he has even been the
lead horse for the Mountain Rhythm Riders Drill Team where
he demonstrated his willingness and talent. His progeny are
now under saddle and mirror their sire’s traits.
Silver is the “complete package.” An evenly
timed four beat gait, intelligence, temperament,
conformation and that gorgeous chocolate color help make him
all you could want as the sire of your next foal. On the
trail, or in the show ring, or in the breeding shed, Silver
performs like a true champion.
